"Human System Integration: A Primer on
Policies, Processes and Initiatives"

The DAU Alumni Association and the DAU
Acquisition Community Connection are
co-sponsoring this Hot Topic Forum focusing
on DoD's approach to
Human Systems Integration (HSI).
The Hot Topic Forum will provide defense
acquisition professionals with a keen
understanding of the statutory and
regulatory HSI requirements, policies, and
processes for meeting and exceeding
performance, cost, and schedule in systems
design and development.
Several HSI initiatives will be reviewed,
including the
Navy's Littoral Combat Ship, the
Army's
Future Combat Systems, Air Force's
Global-Hawk, and the Coast Guard's
Off-Shore Patrol Cutter. Information will
also be provided on efforts to incorporate
human requirements in the
Joint
Capabilities Integration Development System
(JCIDS), identification of HSI artifacts in
scheduled technical reviews, and available
educational tools and opportunities for
both managers and practitioners at major
staffs and in the field.
The guest speaker is Mr. Richard M.
Etheridge, Branch Chief, Acquisition &
Human Systems Integration, Department of
the Navy. He has extensive acquisition and
program management experience in the
HSI field.
The Forum is open to all DAU staff, faculty
and students;
defense industry professionals
(Alumni Association Corporate Sponsors have
highest priority); Office of the SecDef
staff; and government acquisition
employees. The Forum will be available at
DAU regional campus locations via VTC. The
Forum is part of the DAU Staff and
Faculty Enrichment Program and also
provides
one Continuous Learning Point (CLP) towards
meeting continuous learning requirements
for government acquisition certification.
