The Defense Acquisition University
(DAU) will host its annual Acquisition Community
Symposium on April 13, 2010 on its Fort Belvoir
Campus. The theme this year is:
Achieving Excellence in a Changing
Acquisition Environment.
The Symposium will provide
Service-level and industry perspectives on
implementing a new direction in acquisition
leadership and management. Through a series of
speakers, panels and break-out sessions, the
Symposium will examine issues such as: “Impact of
Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) on acquisition,
including workforce implications;” and “Technical
maturity and cost challenges facing defense program
managers.” Agenda planning includes an
Acquisition Executive Panel, an Industry Panel, a
Congressional Perspectives Panel, and a New
Acquisition Initiatives and Implementation Panel.
There will be seven breakout sessions covering:
Five on “How to” discussions regarding career field
recruiting and retention; presentations of DAUAA
Research Paper Competition winners (Hirsch Prize);
and Best Practices on Cost Estimating. The one day
symposium will conclude with a dinner in the
evening honoring the winner of the 2010 Alumni
Association’s Acker Award; induction of new DAU
Hall of Fame members; and presentation of Research
Paper Competition prizes. |
