The DAU Alumni
Association (DAUAA), in support of the DAU Research Program, is
proud to announce its first annual acquisition research paper
competition.
The purposes of
this competition are:
a) to enhance the professional stature of DoD acquisition
b) to facilitate learning and knowledge sharing in conjunction
with the theme of the annual DAU Acquisition Community Symposium
c) and to generate acquisition related research studies/articles
for the Defense Acquisition Review Journal (ARJ).
Ground Rules:
1. Competition is open
to anyone with interest in the DoD acquisition system, and is
not limited to government or contractor personnel.
2. Employees of
the federal government (including military personnel) are
encouraged to compete and are eligible for cash awards unless
the research and the writing of the paper were part of the
employee’s official duties, or were done on government time.
If the research effort is performed as part of official duties
or on government time, the employee would be eligible for a
non-cash prize, i.e., certificate and donation of cash prize to
charity of winner’s choice. (Charity must be on the Combined
Federal Campaign listing.)
3. First cash prize is
$1,000.
4. Second cash prize is
$ 500.
5. The format of the
paper must be in accordance with guidelines for articles
submitted for the Defense Acquisition Review Journal (ARJ),
which can be found on the DAU web-site at
www.dau.mil
6. The theme of the
papers for 2008 is: “Defense Life Cycle Management: Sustaining
DoD Weapon Systems.”
(Please note that this is related to and part of the theme of
the 2008 DAU Acquisition Community Symposium and the
theme of the 2nd Quarter Issue of Defense ARJ)
7. Research
Papers are due 15 December 2007.
8. Papers should
be submitted to the DAU Director of Research: Dr. Paul Alfieri,

9. Papers will be
judged by the ARJ Editorial Staff, and winners selected for
prizes by the DAUAA Board of Directors.
10. Winners will
be announced, and papers will be presented at the DAUAA 2008
Acquisition Community Symposium on April 15, 2008.
